Vendor Guidelines
These guidelines keep Smart Chop safe, fair, and enjoyable for vendors and customers alike. Please read them carefully before registering your store. By registering and selling on Smart Chop, you agree to follow them, together with our Terms of Service.

The essentials
- Be accurate: what customers see is what they should receive.
- Be safe: prepare and package all food hygienically.
- Be prompt: accept or reject orders quickly and keep statuses up to date.
- Be fair: Smart Chop charges a 15% commission on each successful order, with no hidden fees.
- Be respectful: treat customers, riders, and our team with courtesy.
1. Registration and verification
- Provide accurate and complete information about your store and business when you register.
- Every store is reviewed by our team before it goes live.
- The verified badge is awarded only after review and may be removed if a vendor stops meeting our standards.
- Keep your store details, contact information, and opening hours up to date.
2. Accurate listings
- Product names, descriptions, photos, and prices must match what customers actually receive.
- Use clear photos of your own food. Do not use images that misrepresent your products.
- Mention portion sizes, add-ons, and any ingredients customers should know about, including common allergens.
- Mark items as unavailable as soon as you run out, so customers are not disappointed.
3. Food safety and hygiene
- Prepare all food in a clean environment, using clean equipment and safe ingredients.
- Store, cook, and handle food at safe temperatures, and never sell food that is spoiled or expired.
- Maintain good personal hygiene and wash your hands before handling food.
- Package orders securely so food arrives fresh, at the right temperature, and without spills.
- You are responsible for meeting all applicable food safety laws and regulations in Nigeria.
4. Order handling
- Accept or reject new orders promptly. Do not leave customers waiting for a response.
- Update the order status as you prepare it so customers can track their meal.
- Give honest preparation times and keep to them as closely as you can.
- Check that each order is complete and correct before it is handed to the customer or delivery rider.
- Avoid cancelling orders after accepting them, as this affects customers and your standing on the platform.
5. Pricing, commission, and payouts
- Smart Chop charges a 15% commission on each successful order.
- The commission is deducted automatically through split payments at the time of payment, so your share goes to you directly.
- Set fair and accurate prices. The price shown at checkout is the price the customer pays.
- Do not ask customers to pay outside the platform or add hidden charges.

6. Customer communication
- Be polite, respectful, and responsive to every customer.
- Handle complaints professionally and try to resolve them quickly and fairly.
- If something goes wrong, such as a missing item or a delay, tell the customer early.
- Never harass, threaten, or discriminate against customers, riders, or Smart Chop staff.
7. Refunds and complaints
- Where an order is incorrect, incomplete, or not fit to eat, you may be asked to help resolve the issue.
- Cooperate with our support team when we review a complaint, and respond to requests promptly.
- Refunds or credits approved after a review may be deducted from your earnings where the fault was yours.
8. Prohibited items
The following may not be listed or sold on Smart Chop:
- Alcohol and tobacco products.
- Illegal substances of any kind.
- Any item restricted or prohibited by Nigerian law or campus policy.
- Counterfeit, stolen, or unsafe goods.
9. Prohibited conduct
- Providing false information or impersonating another business.
- Manipulating ratings, reviews, rewards, or coupons.
- Misusing customer information. Customer details may be used only to fulfil their order.
- Interfering with the security or normal operation of the platform.
10. Account suspension and removal
We may warn, suspend, or remove accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate these guidelines, including for food safety concerns, fraud, abuse, or repeated customer complaints. Where possible, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to respond. Any earnings owed for completed orders remain payable in line with your vendor terms.
11. Changes to these guidelines
We may update these guidelines from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify vendors through the platform or by email. Continuing to sell on Smart Chop after an update means you accept the revised guidelines.
